Well last night I had great intentions on sleeping lots, however with my proximity to land it was a hard to come by thing. I was sailing on a NE course as Bob (MetBob) has me climbing north to get above some 7 metre swells over the next few days, but this put the French Southern Territories directly in my path……

I made and drank a protein shake and then had a protein ball before finally grabbing my hot water bottles and climbing into bed. I spent nearly 30 minutes shaking before I finally warmed up enough to sleep. Not 10 minutes later and we were hit. I could feel Climate Action Now getting lifted on a wave far larger than all the others around her. We were tossed on our side and there was this enormous roar of white water…..

Last night the storm continued to abate. I was still sailing with the third reef in the mainsail and the storm jib up for most of the night, in 30 knots of wind, but as it got closer to dawn I the winds eased to 20 knots and then 15 knots until sleep was no longer an option. I needed to get on deck and increase the sail area……

Well last night was a night of broken sleep. I managed to get to bed at 2am, but I needed to wake up at 4am to complete the micro plastic sample change. I did this with bleary eyes before diving back into bed for another 1.5 hours of sleep and again waking to complete the second sample change. If you remember, we are running a 100 micro filter for 2 hours…….
