Today is such an exciting day on record as I have now reached 40 days of solo sailing. The last ships I saw were two container ships passing below Australia 10 nm south of Albany on day one. It has now been 40 days since I have seen another vessel, land, or signs of human life out here. I have to say, some days I feel…….
AFTER THE STORM
Well it seems to be another all-nighter tonight for me. In last night’s storm the winds ended up peaking at 50 knots and the swell continued to bash poor Climate Action Now until around 5 am where the winds started to abate. I was just drifting sideways and feeling frustrated as I wasn't too sure how much ground I was losing to Fedor at that moment…….
MASSIVE KNOCKDOWN AS WE NEAR CAPE HORN
We were airborne and I was mid-flight in the navigation station, and I knew in my mind that this wave was different. It just felt so much larger and more powerful than the others. The winds had now shifted from the SW to the NW and were slowly creeping around to the NNE and I needed to adjust my sails to suit. This meant that instead of me sailing with the wind and……
JOBS PREP READY FOR STORMS
Well today I have been a very busy little bee, getting loads of jobs done around the boat. I ended up shaking out to the first reef in the mainsail just before I went to bed, and I unfurled the No 2 Headsail on the bow as the winds had eased right off to 22 knots and I hadn't seen anything over 25 knots in a while. I finally got……
